The kitchen is the heart of the home. It is where the family comes together by means of food, aroma, conversations, dinners, bonding and so on. Since the kitchen is where the food preparation and cooking is done, it is more prone to build germs and create a breeding ground for the same. Therefore, it becomes extremely important to keep the areas clean and deep clean the entire space every so often to avoid any harmful bacteria from surviving in the space. If left uncleaned, it can lead to health allergies and reactions. How do you clean the kitchen and organize this space properly? Here is our step-by-step guide.

How To Clean Kitchen Floor Tiles?

Sweep Out the Dust

The first thing that you need to do before getting down to intensive cleaning is to sweep out the dry dust completely from the kitchen tiles. This clears out layer of dry dust that could create a hassle while wet cleaning. Use a broom that is easy to get into the corners and sides of ever cabinet, appliance, or piece of furniture.

Use A Tile Cleaner & Water Solution

This is the simplest way to keep your tiles clean. Fill a bucket with water and add 2-3 capfuls of floor cleaning solution. Mix it up well. Take a microfiber cloth or a mop, dip it into the prepared solution and wipe the floor end to end. You can also soak the floor first using water or the solution and then start mopping so that the floor also cools down. Thick hack is especially helpful in summers.

Dry The Tiles After Mopping

Once you have mopped the floor with cleaning solution and water, it is now time to dry the flooring immediately. You can switch on a fan at full speed for the floor to dry up or you can wipe the floor a second time with a dry cloth so that excess solution soaks in completely. This step is especially important as wet floors can prove to be an accident magnet and if left unchecked someone might slip or fall.

Maintain a Regular Cleaning Routine

Deep cleaning should be done occasionally and is not required every day - rather, regular cleaning must be done daily. The amount of spills and drops in the kitchen is inevitable and unavoidable. This calls for a cleaning routine that keeps unnecessary infections away. Make sure you follow a simple brush and mopping schedule and clean up spills as soon as they happen to keep your floor tiles looking new.

Checklist For Organizing and Cleaning the Kitchen

Do not Leave Unwashed Dishes on The Counter

When you are done consuming your food, see to it that you wash the utensils and crockery that you have used at once, or load them into your dishwasher immediately. Leaving unwashed dishes on the counter is unhygienic and is not visually appealing. If you do not want to wash them right away, you can simply rinse the utensils and crockery clean and store them neatly until you are ready to wash them all or until they can be loaded into your dishwasher.

Clean Up After EVery Meal

Whether it is eating at the dining table or on the breakfast counter, food spillage is bound to happen. After finishing your meals, make sure you immediately wipe clean the area where you ate to avoid drying of spilled food and making a mess underfoot.

Clean Your Refrigerator

Your refrigerator is a place where you store all food that you want to eat and your leftovers. Naturally, it often gets stuffed with unnecessary items or expired items as well. So, the best practice is to clean your refrigerator at least once a month and get rid of all the expired items. You should also make a note of all the food that is close to expiry, so that they can be used in a timely manner.

Clean The Sink Too

You might think there’s constant water exposure in the sink, then why does it need another cleaning routine? It does! The sink sees a lot of waste, whether its coffee grinds or leftover food. This can become a breeding ground for microorganisms if not cleaned well. Every time you are done washing dishes and pots, make sure you scrub the sides and the bed of the sink with soap or a cleaning liquid.

Determine A Place for Everything

Kitchens can be an easier space to navigate daily if you know where things are kept. If you are disorganized, you end up spending most of your time looking for things. Hence, ensure you dedicate a certain space for everything that you need regularly to save time. For instance, include a reachable space for the spices, a moving stand for vegetables, a space for cooking utensils, and other customized storage solutions. This eases your work in the kitchen and keeps everything neat and tucked away in the cabinets and storage, reducing clutter on the kitchen countertops.

Keep Your Kitchen Simple

A simple and well-organized kitchen is heaven. Reducing clutter means that you will find things much easier as you will know exactly where each item is kept. It also becomes easier to clean every day. A minimal kitchen also gives off a very Scandinavian aesthetic and is visually appealing!

Now that you know how to go about your kitchen remodeling project in terms of cleaning and organizing it, why don’t you indulge in some cleaning sessions and see for yourself how it transforms your kitchen? If cleaned regularly, kitchen flooring will last you for years. Remember, a clean and clutter-free kitchen is the first step towards healthier living.
